Jun. 06, 1957 - Jail-Breaker William Fowler flings hood off escaped from Dartmoor - free for 33 days.: A raincoat was placed over the head of(34) when he arrived at the Magistrate's Court at Maryport, Cumberland, yesterday. he flung it off. Fowler was sent for trial on charges of breaking and entering and stealing. (Fowler escaped from Dartmoor Jail and was free for 33 days - during which he traveled by car - rail - yacht and hitchhike vial Somerset - Kent - Esse - South Coast and Manchester to the North.
