May 05, 1958 -43, 000 Bank Raid In London Audacious Daylight Robbery: A total of43, 000 was stolen by bandits from a bark van today. Six handbits waylaid, bound and gagged the driver of the van, which was hired by Wesminster Bank for the collection-and bundled him into the rear of the van. One of the bandits, wearing the clothes and badge of the hired driver-drove to the bank-collected the money and drove off with two bank messengers as guards. In Tomlin's Terrace, Limehouse, the rest of the gang waited in ambush with a stolen car. They held up the van again at gun-pointoshed the two messengers and piled the money into their own car.
