Feb. 02, 1959 - Shots Fired In Jewellers Hold Up: Gunmen, wearing stocking masks, shot their way out of a jeweller's shop in London's famous Burlington Arcade, Piccadilly last night. Mr. Bob Baker, head beedle of the Arcade had a narrow escape when one of the gunmen fired at him as he tried to bar their exit from the shop. The raiders ran to a waiting car and drove-off-but were held up in a traffic jam, and the three gunmen got out an ran for it. A policeman throw himself at one of the men and brought him down. The other two raced off across Piccadilly. As they did so one of them dropped the rings they had stolen, whicch were in a paper bag. Another shot was fired during the chase. Photo shows.
