1959 - Mother Forgives man who killed her Daughter: 22-year old Edmund Barber, of Virgini-road, Thornton Heath, Surrey, was yesterday sentenced to three years jail, after being found not guilty of murder, but guilty of the manslaughter of 17-year old Carol Ann Soan, the dead he loved. Mrs. Josephine Soan, mother of the dead girl and Mrs. Mary Barber, mother of Edmund Barber, sat together during the trial.
