Dec. 12, 1959 - The devils of the Merry Nursery Home': Sentenced to 1 1/2 years of imprisonment was 53-year-old nurse Gabriele Schmidt; the trial against children's nurse Margarete Taubmann had to be postponed because she fell ill. They were both accused of neglecting their duties as nurses to a most dangerous degree. In the kinder garden in Bahrendorf/Holstein, managed by them, the children were neglected, starved and punished in the mose devilish sort of way - although the home bears the promising name Merry Nursery Home'. For the money they saved by witholding it from the children, the two nurses bought a car for themselves, and the authorities responsible for supervising the home, they deceived for a number of years about the real state of affairs in this kinder garden. Photo shows speaking for the well-being of the children were the two physicians Prof. Dr. Hangarter (left) and Dr. Siebert (Hangarter, Siebert), they informed the authorities which eventually started legal proceedings against the responsible nurses
