Aug. 08, 1961 - Gunman shoots couple in car: A gunman hitched a lift from a couple in a Grey Morris at Sloughlast night. A few hours later when the car reached a lay-by on the A6 at Clophill, near Bedford, he shot the man dead and seriously wounded the woman. Then he dumped them in a ditch and drove off. Police are still searching for the gunman. Photo shows Police and soldiers from the Royal Engineers use a mine detector in their search of the area near the murder scene today
