Jul. 07, 1961 - Gunman Shoots Fiancee and her Mother after sixteen hour siege near Rome: A crazed gunman armed with grenades, a sub machine gun and two automatic pistols gave himself up today after shooting dead his 19 year old fiancee and her mother and holding his 16 month old baby daughter hostage in the fantastic 16 hour siege near Rome. Before he surrendered the man handed his baby to the police from a balcony, hundred of policemen had ringed the building during the siege.The drama began last night in the village of Rocoa di Papa near Rome. The man, 21 years old Mauro Serafini went to the house of his fiancee Maria Fusi. She was the mother of the baby and there were to have wed today. Maria was pregnant again and Serafini told her The child you carry is not mine He strunk her and her 67 Years old mother, Settimia Fuzi when she went to her daughter's aid. Maria's father ran for help and Serafini barricaded the house. The siege was on. Photo Shows: The gunman held by police after his surrender today
