Jun. 06, 1965 - POLICEMAN SHOT IN SIEGE: A policeman was shot in the back by a rifle bullet today, in a two-hour siege at a house in Woodlands Rise, Muswell Hill, North London. Police went to the house after an underworld tip that they would find a woman who had escaped from Holloway jail. When they approached her room she locked the door, and then opened a large window of the room. Shots were fired at a plain clothes police constable outside in the street. The girl then appeared at the window with a.22 rifle, and a newspaper photographer, Mr. Steve Davis, was able to grab the gun, after asking the girl if he would take a photograph of her. Photo shows:- The scene as photographer Steve Davis grabs the gun during the siege today
