Jul. 07, 1963 - Murder trial against former East German soldier. Trial before the Grand Jury in Stuttgart was opened today against Fritz Richard Hankee (Fritz Richard Hankee), 22, a former soldier of the East German People's army who, before emigrating to Western Germany himself is accused to have shot and killed an unknown refugee who tried to cross the iron curtian on June 5th 1962. Prior to the trial Hanke has confessed to have shot on the refugee. After Hankes escape to the West other East German border patrols have informed members of the West German border police that Hanke was responsible for the death of a refugee.
