1966 - The Moors Murder Trial Opens. The Moors Murder Trial opened at Chester Castle. The accused are Ian Brady, 27-year-old stock clerk, and Mira Hindley, 23-year old shorthand-typist, both of Wardle Brook-avenue, Hattersley, near Hyde, Cheshire. Brady is charged with the murders of Lesley Ann Downey, 10, John Kilbride, 12, and Edward Evans, 17. Hindley is charged with the murders of Downey and Evans and with harbouring Brady knowing he had murdered Kilbride. Photo Shows:- Mr. Godfrey Heilpern, Q.C. who leads the defence of Hindley
