Dec. 12, 1968 - LIFE DETENTION FOR CHILD KILLER. Mary Flora Bell, the 11-year old schoolgirl accused with her friend, Norma Joyce Bell, 13 (no relation), of strangling two small boys, Martin Brown, 4, and Brian Howe, 3, at Scotswood, Newcastle, was sentenced to life detention at Newcastle Assizes yesterday, after being found guilty of manslaughter.
