Jun. 06, 1968 - Peter Manuel goes back to jail in Handcuffs. appeal against conviction for seven murders. On the advice of his counsel - Peter Manuel (32) did not appear in the Edinburgh Court yesterday - at opening of the hearing of his appeal against conviction for seven murders. During the hearing he stayed in the cells behind the court and refused to eat two lunches that were offered to him. A prison official said that there is no indication that Manuel is on a hunger strike. He has been on a special diet since last week - when he was found frothing at the mouth - it being believed that he has swallowed a piece of soap.
