Jan. 01, 1970 - Spanish Student Foiled In Hijacking Attempt At Zaragoza Airport: 18 year-old Spanish Student Mariano Ventura Rodriguez, a computer student from Madrid who tried to hijack an airliner to either Cuba of Albania surrendered after being warned he might be shot at dawn if anything happened to the crew or passengers. The twin propeller Couvir of the Iberia Airlines with 41 passengers and four crew members was about to land at Zaragosa Airport when Rodriguez forced his way in the the flight cabin holding toy gun and a knife on the pilot.
