Jul. 07, 1972 - Japanese Gunman Is Sentenced To Life Imprisonment By An Israeli Military Court: Kozo Okamoto, 24, sole survivor of the three-man Japanese suicide squad which gunned down nearly 100 people at Lydda airport on the orders of Arab guerrillas, killing 24 and wounding 72, was spared the death penalty by an Israeli military court at Sarafand after a plea by the prosecution.
