Sep. 09, 1971 - Detectives discover bank raid in weekend search after a radio ham picked up the gang's messages: Detectives discovered today the big bank robbery after their weekend search following a tip-off form a radio ham who eavesdropped on a walkie-talkie conversation between members of the gang while they were at work. One of their comments while they were at work. One of their comments was we're sitting on £300, 000. The ham tape recorded the messages and called the police. Detector vans toured the area within a ten mile radius. The robbery was discovered this morning at Lloyds branch on the corner of Baker Street and Marylebone road. Photo shows a notice displayed in a ladies handbag shop which says closed until Sept. 14th'. The shop is situated close to the bank and detectives were making enquiries there
