Apr. 27, 1974 - Eight Million Pound Art Robbery In Eire: Eight Million Pounds worth of old masters including famous paintings by Vermeer, Goya, Velasquez and Franz Hale were stolen last night at the mansion of the former Tory MP Sir Alfred Beit, at Blessington, Co Wicklow, Eire. The raid was carried out by four men and a women with a french accent. This is the world's biggest ever art theft.
