Jan. 01, 1981 - IRA Terrorist bomb blasts RAF Uxbridge: Last night an IRA terrorist bomb which could have killed many people exploded without causing a single casualty at RAF Uxbridge, thanks to three alert men. The three were an RAF warrant officers, and aircraftman and a Ministry of Defence policeman, who were on routine patrol at the bass on the Western outskirts of London. The spotted four drums of petrol where they should not have been in salcore below a stairway in a barrack black and wedged between the canisters a blue RAF style satchol with wires producing from them, this was the bomb. The drums tapes had been turned on and petrol was pouring out all over the floor. The cleared the 50 people from the building and them removed the four five gallon petrol drum from the building and as they were flung to the ground bu were unhurt. The explosion shattered windows over a wide area and could be heard two and half miles away. Photo shows the damaged washroom which caught the full blast of the bomb explosion at RAF Uxbridge last night
