Crown Copyright Reserved: Her Majesty has been pleased to approve the appointment of Mr. Maurice Henry Dorman, C.M.G. Colonial Secretary, Trinidad, as Governor and Commander-in-Chief of Sierra Leone, in succession to Sir Robert Hall. Mr. Dorman was born in August 1912, at Stafford and educated at Sedbergh and Magdalene College, Cambridge. He was first appointed to the Colonial Service as an. Administrative Cadet in Tanganyika in 1935. He was transferred to Malta in 1945 as Assistant to the Lieut-Governor and was appointed Principal Assistant Secretary, Palestine, in 1947. In 1948 he was seconded for duty as an Assistant Secretary in the Colonial Office and was appointed Director of Social Welfare and Community Development in the Gold Coast in 1950. He was appointed Colonial Secretary Trinidad in 1952. He was awarded the C.M.G. in 1955
