Apr. 19, 1971 - Papa Doc - President of Haiti, dying.: armed troops are massing in front of the white palace of Dr. Francois Duvalier Papa Doc, President of Haiti who is paralyzed and dying after 14 years of supreme power. The death of the 64-year-old dictator will be the signal for a Byzantine struggle for power within the palace between rival groups bitterly competing for the succession.
