Former Cuban Prisoner Speaks Out

Jun. 20, 1980 - Paris, France - HUBER MATOS, 62, the companion of Castro during the Cuban Revolution, served 20 years in prison for his opposition to the regime. Since he got out of prison, Matos goes from country to country and denounces the situation of political prisoners in Cuba of whom a lot were assassinated according to him. Matos held a press conference in Paris during which he evoked the case of Cuban poet A. Valladares, who was condemned to 30 years in prison in 1960. Valladares has been paralyzed since 1974 after he was deprived of food for 40 days and he is without medication or any other particular needs
