Cunard liner, Queen Elizabeth I, in Florida
Mar. 22 Elizabeth 1 Poses A Queen Size Problem: According to reports from Ft. Lauderdale, the new home port of the Cunard veteran vessel Queen Elizabeth, the ship's future is still far from certain. It was originally planned that the Elizabeth would find a permanent berth at the Florida harbour and with the help of some 0, 000, 000 become a magnificent tourist attraction and convention centre. But problems have beset the project and there is now even a strong rumour that the vessel will move from the area completely. Cunard, still owners of the ship, paid 50, 000 to have the port dredged to help get the Elizabeth into its present position. Having crossed the Atlantic on its final trip the ship sailed into Ft. Lauderdale on December 8th, 1968. Photo shows At its present location in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The future of the Queen Elizabeth is still uncertain
