Cunard liner, Queen Elizabeth II, lifeboat accident
Oct. 10, 1953 - TWO MEN CRASH 80FT. IN LIFEBOAT. FROM THE QUEEN ELIZABETH. An 8 1/2-ton lifeboat plunged 80ft. yesterday from the liner Queen Elizabeth and landed on top of another lifeboat in Southampton docks below. It happened when two seamen were securing the lifeboat to its davits on the boat-deck. One and swung free and the lifeboat hurtled down with two men in it. They were rescued from the water.
