Jun. 06, 1955 - Ex-A.T.S. Girl held in slave labour Camp. She defied Torture. A German Jaromer Chudy was released from a Czech jail recently - and gave out the story of ex-A.T.S. girl Phyllis Clarke who comes from the little Suffolk Village of Thurston, nr. Bury. St. Edmunds. Jaromar wrote to Phylis's sister at Thuraton - and told her that Phyllis was arrested with her husband Czech Jaroslav Sispera when they tried to fles to the West from Czechoslovakia - and she was sentenced to 12 months in jail - he to 12 years. Her children Martin ( 12 ); Clarence ( 11 ) and Jennifer ( 10 ) were taken away from her and she was tortured and forced to clvorce her husband. When she was released she was sent to an underground mine and was then put on building work for 16 hours a day. The case is to be investigated by the British Foreign office.
