Jun. 06, 1961 - The Lady Mayor and the Rose of Lidice: In London today for a most unsual ceremony was Madame L. Proskova, Mayor of Lidice. At the Embassy of the Czeshosloval Socialist Republic in Kensington Palace Gardens she was meeting the Lidice shall live Committee. Highlight of the gathering was the naming of the Rose of Lidice specially cultivated by grower Harry Wheatcroft. The town of Lidice, near Prague, was annihilated on June 10, 1942, on Hitler's orders.
