Jun. 28, 1961 - The Lady mayor And The Rose of Lidice In London today for a most unusual ceremony was Madame L. Proskova, Mayor of Lidice. At the Embassy of the Czechoslovakia Socialist Republic in Kensington Palace Gardens she was meeting the :Lidice Shall Live: Committee. Highlight of the gathering was the naming of the Rose of Lidice especially outlived by grower Harry Wheatcroft. The town of Lidice near Prague, was annihilated on June 10, 1942, on Hitler's orders.
