Aug. 08, 1968 - Security Council Begins debate on Situation In Czecholovakia: The Security Council Began debate, at the request of six Council members, Concerning the present serious situation in the Czecholovakia Socialist Republic. The Decision to take up this item-- as requested today by Canada, Denmark, France, paraguay, the united Kingdom and the United States -- was taken by a vote of 13 in favour to 2 against (Hungary, Soviet Union). In the Debate, statements were made by the representatives of the Soviet Union (which sent a letter opposing discussion of its item), The United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Denmark and Paraguay.
