Da Nang liberated, South Vietnam

Mar. 03, 1975 - Czechoslovak News Agency, Photo service Opletalova 5 111 44 Prahal Pictures from the Republic of South Vietnam: Da-Nang, the second largest city of the Republic of South Vietnam, was liberated on March 29, this year, by the forces of the Provisional Revolutionary Government of South Vietnam. There were three air and four US bases in Da-Nang (Under the French Colonial domination, the city was called Touane). Education in South Vietnamese schools has been resumed, the biggest elementary and secondary school in Da-Nang, Phan-chu-Trinha is attended by 5, 000 pupils and has a school grounds of Phan-chu-Trinha. the symbol of freedom - a blue-and-red flag with golden star in the centre was hoisted on the largest of the 89 pagodas of Da-Nang in the early hours of March 29, 1975. Students of the largest elementary and secondary school in Da-Nang-Phan-chu-Trinha-have already resumed their studies. During the mass uprising against the US American Occupants, refugees were housed in the school buildings. Immediately after the liberation of Da-Nang, students assisted in clearing the city from war debris and helped the revolutionary forces to restore and maintain order. Most of the US provisions to the Saigon Army were sold by corrupt officers of the Thieu regime on the black market, whereas their soldiers were given for weeks neither money nor food.
