Dachau, Nazi Concentration Camp, Germany, WW2
May 05, 1945 - Dachau Concentration Camp, Germany: the most infamous of all Nazi concentration camps, has been liberated by the 42nd Rainbow Division of the 7th Army. Scenes of appalling horror were witnessed by the American Troops as they went from building to building. Thousands of starved corpses were piled nearly to the roof awaiting cremation and thousands of living went crazy with joy as they saw American soldiers liberate their prison. Many of the prisoners immediately seized their SS torturers and killed them, throwing their bodies into the moat surrounding the camp. Prisoners at the electric fence cheer the Americans. Some of them wear the striped blue and white prison garb. These are the ones due for the crematorium. They decorated their huts with flags of all nations which they made secretly as they heard the guns of the 42nd Rainbow Division getting louder on their approach to Dachau
