May 27, 1975 - Stuntman Evel Knievel crashes in motor cycle leap over 13 buses: American motor cycle stuntman Evel Knievel was in hospital last night after crashing on landing after clearing 13 single-deck buses on his motor cycle. He cleared the buses in 90 mph lep, but crashed on the landing ramp, at Wembley Stadium, wathced by about 70, 000 people. He has a gractured hand and has damaged his spine. Evel Knivel's attempt to leap 140 feet opver 13 single-deck buses ended in disaster at Wembley Stadium, London. the famous American stuntman was takne to a London Hospital with spinal injuries and a broken hand. He is making a good recovery. The 70, 000 crowd saw him appearetly clear the buses, but his machine crashed out of control as it hit the landing ramp leading from the 13th, bus. He was trapped beneath the motorcycle. He was helped onto a stretcher, but immediately got off and told the crowd: Ladies and gentlemenof this wonderful country, you are the last people to sde me jump. I will never jump agin and that's true'. The nex day he obviously felt a lot better, because it has been reported that has changed his mind, about never jumping again
