Daredevils - Stunts

May 05, 1956 - Stunt man burned when trick goes wrong: Escapologist James Crossini came near to death yesterday, when his act of being suspended 50 feet up in a burning straight jacket went wrong. Drenching rain had locked the webbing knots in the straight-jacket. Watchers heard him scream: Get me down, I'm burning to death'. Rescuers lowered him to the ground and a doctor in the crowd treated him whilst his jacket was cut away. Photo shows Escapologist James Crossini with his face badly burned is treated by a doctor whilst his wife Lee, lends a hand, in Manchester yesterday
