Apr. 18 An anxious moment as firewalker fell to the ground in the muddy pit, a friend struggles with him to wihdraw the knives from his cheeks before he rolls on them and lacerates his face. Soon after midday the firewalkers take parifying bath in the Malacca River, then they walk dance and jump in a wild procession to the fires all the time working temselves into a frenzy. Some cross the pit in a run, others walk slowly, some stumble and collapse and have to be pulled clear by those who are brave enough to approach the unbearable heat.
