Daredevils - Stunts
Feb. 02, 1966 - Air Crash for Emergency Ward 10. Sir John Wilder's VTOL fighter/bomber, specially created for ATV's highly successful The Plane Makers series - crashed today at Aylesbury, Bucks. The air crash has been devised by Josephine Douglas, producer of Emergency - Ward 10 - as part of the storyline for Dr. Warren Kent (played by former Royal Shakespeare Company actor Ian Cullen) and the creation of a new accident wing for Oxbridge Hospital. The incident will be screened on Friday, February 25th. The VTOL fighter/bomber was created as a life sized aircraft by professional aircraft designers and formed the background to the struggle for power in the last series of The Plane Makers which resulted in Sir John Wilder (played then, as now, in The Power Game - by Patrick Wymark) leaving Scott- Furlong's. The site chosen for this disaster was on the main A41 road through Aylesbury and is currently occupied by a former butcher's slaughter house. The site was offered to Ward 10 by its new owners, Barclay's Bank Ltd. Photo Shows: This was the scene as a man (played by Peter Diamond, a stunt man) jumps off the roof in panic - after the crash today
