May 19, 1971 - World Record Attempt On Bed Of Nails: Tonight at six o'clock outside the Wellington Public House, Shephards Bush Green. Jimmy Fitzmaurice the lightweight wrestling champion of Ireland, will attempt to break the world record for lying on a bed of six-inch nails. To break the record he will have to stay on the nails for five hours. During the attempt collectors will be collecting in aid of the Mentally Handicapped.
