David Norsworthy with recently discovered Van Gogh

Mar. 03, 1969 - Painting bought for 45 turns out to be a Van Gogh, one painted over the other, have been discovered in London suburban antique shop. The canvas was found by Dr. Luigi Grosso, a journalist working in the BBC Italian service, who bought it for 45. The top painting shows a peasant woman stooping in front but concealed a second picture showing a plough scene. Saleroom experts believe it might fetch a five-figure sum at auction. The painting was being shown at Agnew's Galleries in Bond Street, at an exhibition organised by the Burlington magazine.
