David Steel MP, Immigrant Bill letter, London

Feb. 02, 1968 - Immigrant Bill Letter Handed in at Buckingham Palace. A deputation led by Mr. David Steel, MP, Liberal spokesman in the Commons on Commonwealth Affairs, this afternoon handed in a letter asking the Queen as Head of the Commonwealth and Head of State in Britain, to refuse Royal Assent to the Commonwealth Immigrants Bill after its passage through Parliament.
