Debutante Vickie Lewis in paper dress

Apr. 17 The Paper Dress: This dress is made from a is 9d. roll of kitchen papers and sticky tape. The girl wearing it is 17-year old debutante Vickie Lewis. Vickie modelled the do-it-yourself dress at a London fashion show yesterday morning and last night she was the deb who wheeled on the four-foot cake at the Queen Charlotte Ball, which starts off the London Season. But she did not - despite dares from friends - wear her is 94 paper dress at the ball. I could have done, because it's white and firlly and looks like the regulation deb uniform, but it ruffles up a lot when you sit down, she said. Vickie's proper ball dress, from a Kensington boutique, cost 28 gns. The paper dress in the picture can be run up in an evening from one kitchen roll and four rolls of sticky tape (total cost with trimmings, 12s). It is all part of a manufacturer's campaign to prove you can do anything with sticky tape
