Dec. 12 General Assembly recognizes People republic of China as only legitimate representatives or China expels Representatives of Chiang Kai-Shek. UN 116, 955 United Nations, New York, 25 October 1971 The General Assembly voted tonight to recognize the representatives of the People Republic of China as the only legitimate representatives of China to the United Nations, and to expel forthwith the representatives of Chiang Kai-Shek from the place which they unlawfully occupy at the United Nations and in all the organizations affiliated to it. The Assembly acted by adopting a draft resolution, sponsored by Albania and 22 other nations, by a vote of 76 in favour of 35 against, with 17 abstentions. Rachid DRISS (Tunisia) is seen submitting three draft resolutions during the course of the meeting
