Demonstration of US airmen outside US Embassy, London

Aug. 08, 1971 - US airmen demonstrate outside US Embassy in London: This morning hundreds of American Airmen held a demonstration outside the American Embassy in Grosvenor Square to protest against military regulations which they claim restrict their freedom to demonstrate peaceably. The servicemen are members of the GI movement known as Peace - People Emerging Against Corrupt Establishments. After the demonstration they handed in a petition for the US Ambassador, Mr Walter Annenberg. Most of the men taking part wore dark glasses and hats well down over their faces to avoid identification. Photo shows one of the leaders of the demonstration reading out the petition before it was handed in to the American Embassy this morning
