Demonstration for BBC TV of bulletproof shield, London
Jun. 06, 1968 - Inventor Bill Walton risks his life to prove that his bulletproof shield really works: Bill Walton, 55, put on his own bullet proof shield yesterday and faced two marksmen using several types of hand guns, firing live ammunition. The shield made of special steel, thick foam rubber and vinyl and intended for police use was put to the test in front of television cameras for the BBC science magazine programme Tomorrow's World. Bill, wearing his shield covering his body from chin to legs, faced the two marksmen as they fired at him using a.45 Colt, a James Bond Walther PF and the biggest hand gun of all, the.44 Magnum. The shield was holed during the demonstration but Bill was unharmed.
