Mar. 17, 1955 - Demonstration of the Conqueror tank: A demonstration of the new Conqueror tank was held today at the Fighting Vehicle Research and Development Establishment, at Chobham, Surrey. the tank weighs 65 tons and the length of the hull with gun is 39 feet. It has a maximum speed of 20 mph and the first batch will be leaving shortly for BAOR where they will undergo extensive troop trials. Photo shows The Conqueror tank makes a big splash as it passes through a water obstacle at speed during the demonstration
