Demonstration against East-West movement ban, West Berlin

Aug. 08, 1961 - West Berliners hold silent demonstration against stopping of refugees from East to West: Thousands of Berliners demonstrated today for action against the Communist ban on refugees from East to West Berlin. A crowd of 4, 000 marched in silence to the Schoeneburg Hall, headquarters of the West Berlin Government. They carried signs which read Reunification fast'. Some are reported to have shouted Paper protests are not enough and Freedom for All'. Photo shows the crowd assembled before the Schoeneburg Hall with their placards today
