Demonstration of Lockheed C130E aircraft at RAF Northolt

Feb. 02, 1965 - American C130E Aircraft Demonstrated For Air Force Controversy Over Decision To Buy An American Hercules Freighter. The Lockheed C130E was flown from Paris yesterday for a demonstration of its capabilities for the RAF at Northolt. The Government has announced controversially that a few these aircraft are to be purchased for the RAF instead of the superior British machine, the Hawker Siddeley 681. The C130E can take off in 650 ft. and land in 1, 000 ft. with a top speed of 370 mph and can carry 64 fully equipped troops or 20 tons of cargo.
