Demonstration of Lockheed C130E aircraft at RAF Northolt

Feb. 16, 1965 - American C130E Aircraft demonstrated for the Air Force. Controversy Over Decision to Buy an American Hercules Freighter, the Lockheed C130E was flown from Paris yesterday for a demonstration of its capabilities for the RAF at Northolt. The Government has announced that a few of these aircraft are to be purchased for the RAF, in a storm of controversy, instead of the British superior machine, Hawker Siddeley 681. The C130E can take off in 650 ft and land in 1, 000ft with a top speed of 370 mph and can carry 64 fully equipped troops or 20 tons of cargo.
