Demonstration of Magic Box, Hydrox fuel cell, Cambridge
Aug. 08, 1959 - Demonstration of Britain's new Magic Box - it produces its own power from chemicals. A demonstration was held this morning of the Hydrox fuel cell - the invention of Mr. Thomas Bacon - sponsored by the National Research Development Corporation - an invention which is expected to revolutionise the field of electricity. Mr. Bacon has been working on his idea since 1932. The Box does not store electricity but makes it by chemical conversion.
