Demonstration by National Front, East London

Sep. 27, 1976 - September 27th, 1976 - National Front protest against turning a disused warehouse into a Mosque. Two men were arrested during scuffles when 200 National Front demonstrators marched past a disused warehouse in Lea Bridge Road, Leyton, East London yesterday while 3, 000 Moslems held a service inside. They were protesting against a plan to turn the building into a Mosque. About 80 International Socialists who staged a counter march were joined by 1, 000 Moslems after the service, called the Led festival and marking the end of Ramadan, a period of fasting in the Moslem year.
