1955 - Conqueror Aims High By Electric Control: On trial in Germany is Britain's latest, heaviest tank, the Conqueror. Powered by a Meteor wire, the 65 ton tank travels at 20 mph and carries a crew of four. It was designed by the team responsible for the Centurion, the British tank that won high praise from the allies in Korea. The gun is reported stabilised both vertically and horizontally by electric control
