Demonstration of new marine radar equipment, River Thames

Dec. 14, 1966 - Decca Introduce New Low-Cost Transistorised Marine Radar: The World's first high-quality marine radar specially designed for small boats, the Decca 101 will be launched by Decca Radar Limited at the international Boat Show which opens in London next month. The introduction of this transisterised equipment will bring full performance radar within the reach of a wide variety of small vessels, especially yacht owners previously unable to afford this essential international pleasure - boat market the new radar's high performance and reliability make it equally suitable work boats, launches, tugs and other small is being introduced to meet the requirement which exists throughout the world for a compact, low-cost radar, which is easy to install, and simple and economical to operate yet which gives the advanced performance demanded by the professional mariner. The new radar is designed to meet in full the schedule of performance standards for radar agreed by the 1960 Conference on the Safety of Life at Sea (Solas). It has a maximum range of 15 nautical miles it is suitable for 12, 24, 32, 110, 220 volts DC and 115 or 230 volts AC 50 or 60 c/s single phase operation. A typical installation will cost about 830 complete.
