Demonstration of new Messerschmitt miniature sports car
Sep. 09, 1958 - Messerschmitt Launch Sensational New Sports Car: An entirely new phase in the motoring world is unfolded today with the introduction of a new sensational miniature sports car. It is the new Messerschmitt Tg 500 4-wheel sports car. One of the most interesting features of this wonder car is its independent rear wheel suspension with self-acting stabilisers. The coilsprings are over hydraulic shock absorbers and the wheels are individually balanced. The exceptionally low center of gravity makes overturning an impossibility. The fuel consumption is 52 mpg which is possible by the 500 cc twin cylinder two-stroke engine, and has a top speed of about 90 mph. The price of the car is 435, plus purchase tax 216.58. 8d. Photo shows Fritz Fend, the designer of the new Messerschmitt Tg. 500, and his wife Hildegard seated in the new sports car during a demonstration at Brands Hatch today. Frau Fend has assisted her husband in the design and comfort of the new car
