Demonstration of new submarine escape technique

Oct. 10, 1954 - Navy Give Their First Public Demonstration of The New Free Escape Method From Submarines. The Royal Navy gave their first public demonstration of the latest method by which men can escape from submarines. The demonstration took place at HMS Dolphin, Gosport, the headquarters of Flag Officer Submarines, and tests were made in a 100 foot water tank. The new escape system enables men to ascend safely from sunken submarines without breathing apparatus. Photo Shows: The new one-man escape chamber which is used in the new 100-foot training tank. This one-man escape tank will be fitted to all new British submarines
