Demonstration of new submarine escape technique
Oct. 10, 1954 - Navy Gives Their First Public Demonstration of New Escape Method from Submarines. The Royal Navy today gave their first public demonstration of the latest method by which men can escape from submarines. The demonstration took place at HMS Dolphin, Gosport, the headquarters of Flag Officer Submarines, and tests were made in a 100 foot water tank. The new escape system enables men to ascend safely from sunken submarines without breathing apparatus.
